Cairo Supply Directorate records 115 bakery violations and seizes 57 sacks of subsidized flour

The Cairo Supply Directorate said it had recorded 115 violations at municipal bakeries and seized 57 sacks of subsidized baladi flour allocated to bakeries during inspection campaigns targeting markets and supply-related activities across the governorate. The seized goods were placed in custody and legal action was taken against the violators.

Municipal bakery violations

The bakery violations included underweight bread, failure to meet specifications, selling above the regulated price, the absence of a precision scale or information list, and unsanitary dough-kneading equipment.

The campaigns were carried out in implementation of directives from Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber to tighten oversight of the distribution of essential and subsidized goods and combat fraud, manipulation and the illegal trade in subsidized goods. They were conducted under the supervision of Abdel Baset Abdel Naeem, the ministry's first undersecretary and director of the Cairo Supply Directorate, and Mohie Ismail, the directorate's deputy for supply affairs.

Food and goods seized without invoices

The seizures included 265 kg of meat, poultry and processed products slaughtered outside government slaughterhouses, as well as 382 kg of assorted frozen fish.

The campaigns also seized 500 kg of sugar, 300 kg of rice and 250 kg of cheese, along with 140 packs of Qass and Salloum shisha tobacco, all without invoices.

Legal action and continued inspections

The directorate placed all the seized goods in custody and prepared the necessary reports for referral to the Public Prosecution. It said inspections of markets, bakeries and supply-related activities would continue to be intensified to ensure compliance with regulated prices and specifications and protect consumers' rights.
