The match will kick off at 21:00 Cairo, Mecca and Doha time and will be broadcast live on On Sport 1. Egypt will play under coach Hossam Hassan after a strong start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. They began with a goalless draw against Angola before recording a 5-0 victory over South Sudan.
The match represents another test for Egypt during the international break, as the coaching staff seek to assess several tactical options and continue preparations for their upcoming fixtures. Mosimane leads South Africa in his new spell
Pitso Mosimane is leading South Africa in his new spell, which began with a 2-0 win over Guinea followed by a 5-0 victory over Eritrea in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. South Africa will end the international break with the friendly against Egypt in Cairo. Mosimane's visit to the Egyptian capital carries a special significance, as he visited his former club Al Ahly days before the match.
His tour included the club's headquarters and the Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium, where Al Ahly officials welcomed him and he revisited memories of the team he coached between 2020 and 2022. During the visit, the South African coach met Al Ahly board members Tarek Qandil and Sayed Abdel Hafiz.
The two sides also exchanged gifts. Mosimane received a commemorative shield and several Al Ahly shirts, while he presented the club officials with shirts belonging to the South Africa national team. Mosimane previously led Al Ahly to two African Champions League titles, as well as other domestic trophies during his time with the team. Under his leadership, Al Ahly also won two bronze medals at the Club World Cup.
As part of the arrangements for supporters, the Egyptian Football Association, in co-operation with Tazkarti, opened ticket bookings for the match to allow fans to attend and support Egypt from the stands at Cairo International Stadium.
