Emergency crews treated four people at the scene. Three were pronounced dead, while the fourth was taken to hospital. NBC4 identified the helicopter as its NewsChopper4, saying it was among several television news helicopters flying over the area to cover the bus crash that occurred earlier.
The helicopter was covering a separate incident in which a sport utility vehicle collided with a bus operated by the Los Angeles transit network. The latest reports said three people were killed and others injured in the crash, while rescue teams worked to free those trapped in the incident.
