Kylian Mbappé, the Real Madrid striker, has set ending Paris Saint-Germain’s dominance among his team’s Champions League objectives, saying the competition’s champion for the past two seasons has become the side every other team is seeking to knock out. At the same time, he stood by his decision to leave the French club for Real Madrid.
Paris Saint-Germain strengthens its European dominance
Mbappé told France Football that his former team’s two consecutive titles were an unchangeable fact, congratulating Paris Saint-Germain on building on its victories and winning the title again, which he described as exceptional. He added that Real Madrid and the other teams would enter the competition seeking to beat the two-time defending champions, highlighting the standing the Paris club now holds among its European rivals.
Mbappé explained that he ended his time at Paris Saint-Germain as the club began a new cycle involving five key players. He added that signs of this phase had emerged during his final season, when the team, led by Luis Enrique, reached the Champions League semi-finals and came close to reaching the final.
Mbappé said his move to Real Madrid was linked to a long-held personal desire, explaining that he had never imagined spending his entire career in the French league and that playing for the Spanish club was a dream he wanted to fulfil. He stressed that he does not consider joining Real Madrid a wrong decision.
