Spain manager Luis de la Fuente announced the national team squad on Friday for four Nations League matches, in the team’s first gathering since winning the 2026 World Cup. The squad includes 22 players who helped secure the world title, along with several new and returning faces.

Lopez and Huijsen return as two newcomers join

Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez and Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen have returned to the national team after missing the World Cup. An injury ruled Lopez out of the tournament, while Huijsen’s absence followed a difficult end to the season with his club. De la Fuente has also called up two players for the first time: Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martinez and Espanyol forward Roberto Fernandez.

  • They face Czechia in Oviedo on 3 October, before playing Croatia again in Split on 6 October, in Group C of League A. The goalkeepers named were Unai Simon, David Raya and Josep Martinez. The defenders selected were Pedro Porro, Marc Cucurella, Dean Huijsen, Alejandro Grimaldo, Marc Pubill, Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia and Aymeric Laporte.

  • The midfielders are Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Fermin Lopez, Pedri, Rodri, Alex Baena and Fabian Ruiz.

  • The forwards are Yeremy Pino, Victor Munoz, Mikel Oyarzabal, Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Roberto Fernandez and Nico Williams.
