Journalist Anas Al-Sabbar made his first appearance as a presenter on Al Jazeera, according to the Arab Media Faces platform, in a move from field reporting to presenting news from the studio.
The platform published footage of Al-Sabbar’s new appearance, saying it came after years as a field reporter, particularly in the United States, where he covered US politics and Washington’s relations with the Middle East.
Background
Before joining the Al Jazeera Media Network, Al-Sabbar worked as a reporter for Sky News Arabia in the United States. Material published on the channel’s website has listed him as “Anas Al-Sabbar - Washington - Sky News Arabia” since at least 2020, in coverage of US foreign policy and presidential elections, including appearances from Wilmington during gatherings of Joe Biden supporters.
At a US State Department briefing in March 2021, Al-Sabbar identified himself as being from “Sky News Arabia” when directing a question to the department’s spokesperson. He was also listed among the institution’s accredited journalists in the 2022 US Congressional Directory.
Al-Sabbar continued covering US affairs for Sky News Arabia in the following years, appearing in October 2023 as a reporter from Washington while following the positions of then-US President Joe Biden’s administration on the war in Gaza.
Details
Al-Sabbar later joined the Al Jazeera Media Network, continuing to work as a correspondent from the US capital. In December 2025, official US congressional records listed him alongside Al Jazeera International.
According to Al-Sabbar’s LinkedIn profile, he studied at the US-based George Mason University between 2018 and 2020 and earned a master’s degree in Global Affairs, specializing in Governance and Public Management. The profile also indicates previous experience in Ramallah and Bethlehem, without displaying the names of all institutions associated with those stages.
What happens next?
His appearance in the studio marks a new stage in his career, building on his experience with live broadcasting, breaking news and political files, while the nature and frequency of his future participation in presenting Al Jazeera bulletins and programs remain unclear.
