Media reports have circulated information that Lebanese journalist Lara Habib has submitted her resignation from Al Arabiya after a career spanning about twenty years focused on covering the economy and financial markets.
No details have so far been announced about the reasons for Habib’s resignation or her next professional move.

Joining Al Arabiya
Habib joined the channel in 2006 and began working as a presenter and producer of “Kuwait Markets,” specialising in news and analysis of Kuwait’s financial market, while also taking part in daily coverage of stocks and economic developments.

Moving to Dubai
In 2008, she moved to Dubai to present “Al Arabiya Markets,” which followed the performance of Arab and global financial markets, as well as company, investment and energy news.
During her career, she interviewed government officials, policymakers, bank and investment fund executives, and company CEOs.
Habib covered international and regional economic events, including the World Economic Forum’s annual meetings in Davos, meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, Group of 20 summits, and the Future Investment Initiative.
She also interviewed officials and leaders of economic institutions, including Christine Lagarde and Kristalina Georgieva, as well as former World Bank presidents Robert Zoellick and James Wolfensohn.
Her interviews also included business figures such as Carlos Ghosn, Martin Sorrell, Jeff Immelt, John Chambers and Mohamed Alabbar.
Habib’s role in moderating international economic dialogues expanded
Her role later expanded from presenting news and programmes to moderating international sessions and dialogues on growth, energy, investment, technology and the future of the financial sector, including financial technology, central bank digital currencies, artificial intelligence and blockchain.
Habib studied finance and banking at the Lebanese American University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree followed by a master’s degree in business administration.
Habib maintained her ties to the Lebanese American University through her membership of the alumni advisory board of the Adnan Kassar School of Business, as well as by taking part in meetings with students to discuss the job market, entrepreneurship and career paths.
