Assad Algeria Batteries Plans Stock Market Listing to Raise Output to 1 Million Batteries

Assad Algeria Batteries, a subsidiary of Tunisia’s Assad Group, is moving toward a listing on the Algiers Stock Exchange to finance an expansion plan aimed at raising its annual production capacity from 400,000 to 1 million batteries, the Commission for the Organization and Supervision of Stock Exchange Operations (COSOB) said on Monday.

The commission said the financial market’s one-stop window held a meeting chaired by its president, Youcef Bouzenada, to review an application submitted by Assad Group to list its Algerian subsidiary on the stock exchange and examine the conditions, mechanisms and procedures related to the operation, as well as the regulatory requirements needed to complete it.

Representatives of the company attended the meeting, along with the managing director of the Algiers Stock Exchange, the chief executive of Algeria Clearing and representatives of stakeholders in the financial market.

Production line expansion and a recycling plant

The company has annual production capacity of about 400,000 batteries, while its revenue exceeded 2.8 billion Algerian dinars (about 21 million dollars) during 2025. It aims to raise output to 1 million batteries a year, equivalent to 2.5 times its current capacity, by opening its capital on the stock exchange and strengthening its production lines.

The expansion plan includes establishing a plant to recycle batteries and recover raw materials, as part of Assad Group’s plans to continue its investments and expansion and strengthen its industrial presence in Algeria.

Assad Algeria Batteries was established in 2005 and is headquartered in Oued Berdi in Bouira province in northern Algeria. It specializes in manufacturing and distributing batteries for various types of vehicles.

Assad Group, which specializes in manufacturing and distributing batteries for the automotive, industrial and energy sectors, was established in 1938, and its shares were listed on the Tunis Stock Exchange in 2005.

Algiers Stock Exchange expands listed-company base

The application to list Assad Algeria Batteries comes as the exchange works to expand its listed-company base and increase stock market activity. It had announced that it was ready to list two new companies — the public expertise firm CRAPSI, affiliated with the higher education sector, and Airad, which specializes in information technology and digital services — after completion of their subscription offerings to raise capital.

Airad’s subscription was covered by 138.4%, with demand exceeding 1.72 million shares valued at about 1.38 billion dinars (about 10.3 million dollars), compared with about 1.25 million shares offered for subscription.

Trading and market capitalization growth

The volume of shares traded on the Algiers Stock Exchange rose to more than 3.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2025, from 1.9 million shares in the previous quarter, an increase of 91.1% quarter on quarter, according to a report by the Arab Monetary Fund. The exchange ranked second among 16 Arab markets in terms of growth in trading volume during the period, after the Beirut Stock Exchange.

Trading value rose to 52.2 million dollars, from 28.8 million dollars in the third quarter, marking quarterly growth of 81.38%, the third-highest growth rate among the Arab markets covered by the report.

The market capitalization of the Algiers Stock Exchange also rose by about 295 million dollars in the fourth quarter of 2025 to 5.761 billion dollars, from 5.466 billion dollars in the previous quarter, recording growth of 5.4%. Completing the listing of the new companies would add investment instruments to Algeria’s stock market and broaden the base of listed companies.
