US President Donald Trump urged voters to participate in the midterm elections scheduled for November 3, warning that the Democrats’ return to power would undermine what he described as his administration’s achievements. He made the appeal during a speech to his supporters for the second night at a Republican Party conference in Dallas.

Trump compares his administration with the Biden era

Trump said the United States was in a better position after four years he described as marked by “embarrassment, hurt and harm” under former President Joe Biden. He accused the Democrats of damaging the country’s international image, while saying his administration had restored the United States to a position of leadership.

The Republican Party is holding what it described as its first conference dedicated to the midterm elections, under the slogan “America First,” to rally its base ahead of the vote. The conference was also described as the party’s largest since 2016. On domestic issues, Trump said crime had fallen to its lowest level in the United States in 125 years, and accused the Biden administration and the Democrats of causing inflation and opening the border to about 25 million people.

Trump’s pledges on the border and economy

He added that his administration had built nearly 2,000 miles of border wall, pledging to enact a new law to strengthen border protection. Trump outlined his economic policies, saying his administration had approved the largest tax and regulatory cuts in the country’s history, and that the United States was collecting trillions of dollars.

He also said retirement accounts had risen by an average of 44,000 dollars, and that the number of working Americans had reached an unprecedented level. Trump pledged to pass what he called the “Save America Act,” requiring proof of identity and citizenship to vote, as well as ending the cash-bail system. He said his administration had recovered billions of dollars in fraud cases, stressing that it would continue its efforts in this area.

Trump highlights military strength and his position on Iran

On military matters, Trump said his administration had increased investment in the armed forces and made the United States a superpower in energy and military affairs. He reiterated his opposition to Iran possessing nuclear weapons, and also claimed that Washington controlled the Strait of Hormuz, which he called the “Trump Strait.”

The US president also addressed Venezuela, saying his administration had carried out a military operation lasting 25 minutes that, according to his account, resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and control of oil reserves estimated at about 65 billion barrels. The material did not include a response from Venezuela to these statements. Trump said about 22 trillion dollars had flowed into the United States during his tenure, describing the figure as unprecedented.

He ended his speech by pledging to confront those he described as communists and extremists, reiterating his commitment to his campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
