Russia’s Defence Ministry said on Thursday that its forces had bombed a cargo ship in the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Chornomorsk, saying the vessel had been used to supply the Ukrainian military. The announcement came amid new battlefield developments in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which has continued since February 2022.

Two centres targeted in Kyiv and Odesa

The ministry added that Russian forces had also targeted a transport and logistics centre in the capital, Kyiv, saying it had been used to manufacture uncrewed boats. It also said the strikes had hit a data centre in the coastal city of Odesa, accusing it of processing intelligence and other operational information for the Ukrainian military.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s emergency services and an official said in a post on Telegram that Russian air strikes had injured one person in Kyiv and another in Odesa. The strikes came as escalation continued between Moscow and Kyiv, with no sign that the fighting was nearing an end.

Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa administration, said on Telegram that infrastructure in the city had been damaged in the attacks, but provided no further details about the nature of the affected facilities or the extent of the damage. Odesa has faced repeated Russian attacks as part of efforts to prevent Ukraine from earning export revenues.
