Russia’s Defence Ministry said on Saturday that it had carried out extensive overnight strikes on industrial and military facilities and transport infrastructure in Ukraine, using precision weapons launched from the air, land and sea, along with drones. At the same time, the governor of Russia’s Kursk region said air defences had shot down 92 Ukrainian drones in 24 hours.
Ukrainian metal plants and ports targeted
The ministry said the strikes targeted metal-industry companies in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk and Kryvyi Rih, claiming that the facilities contribute to the production of military equipment for Ukrainian forces. It added that the attacks hit port infrastructure facilities and a vital transport facility in Odesa region.
According to the Russian account, the targeted sites are used to unload and store military equipment and receive a large share of the foreign weapons and ammunition sent to Ukraine. In a separate statement, Russia’s Defence Ministry said Geran drones had struck a logistics warehouse in the Hostomel area of Kyiv region.
Shelling intensifies in Kursk region
Russia and Ukraine have exchanged airstrikes since the war began in February 2022, using drones and long-range missiles.
Both sides regularly announce strikes on facilities, infrastructure and military sites inside the other side’s territory, while trading accusations of attacking civilian areas and vital facilities.
