Israeli artillery and gunfire target several areas in southern Lebanon

Towns and valleys in southern Lebanon came under artillery fire and gunfire from Israeli forces early on Friday, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency. The attacks came months after the war began and amid a ceasefire announced on 20 June, which helped reduce the frequency of attacks in the area.

Israeli artillery targeted several towns and valleys in southern Lebanon early on Friday, while Israeli forces fired machine guns towards other areas, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency. The artillery fire hit the towns of Beit Yahoun and Mansouri, as well as the Zibqine and Salouki valleys.

Machine-gun fire targets Hadatha and Baraachit

At the same time, machine-gun fire hit the town of Hadatha and the outskirts of Baraachit, as part of the attacks recorded in southern areas. Israel had launched a war on Lebanon on 2 March, after Hezbollah fired rockets towards northern Israel. During the war, Israeli forces took control of several towns in southern Lebanon.

Israeli air strikes continued across wide areas of southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley in the east of the country, despite the first announcement of a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel on 16 April.
