Several Palestinians were injured on Monday after a drone operated by the Israeli army shelled the al-Mawasi area in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, according to Palestinian ambulance and emergency teams. The incident coincided with gunfire and artillery shelling in areas east and south of the city.
Shelling and gunfire target areas in Khan Younis and Gaza
A local Palestinian source said projectiles fired by Israeli military vehicles hit displaced people’s tents in the al-Namsawi cemetery area west of Khan Younis. Israeli vehicles also opened fire toward the eastern areas of Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of the city.
The developments come amid Palestinian accusations that Israeli forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement in effect since 10 October 2025 through air and artillery strikes and the destruction of buildings, while restrictions on the entry of goods and aid and on travel remain in place. In the health sector, Gaza’s Health Ministry warned of a humanitarian disaster threatening the medical system after fuel supplies to 13 non-governmental health institutions were halted.
