Five people, including three children, were injured on Friday morning, 18 September, in a Russian drone attack on the area surrounding the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, regional governor Timur Tkachenko said, as mutual strikes between Russia and Ukraine continued.

Russian strikes target Odesa and Chornomorsk port

In Odesa region, an explosion occurred as air-raid sirens sounded. Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had targeted the Novaya Poshta logistics centre, which it said was used to store and distribute military equipment supplied by European countries, as well as a cargo ship at Chornomorsk port that it said was carrying military supplies.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry said air-defence systems had destroyed 629 Ukrainian drones overnight over several Russian regions, as well as over Crimea, the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, and the Moscow region and its outskirts. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the authorities had intercepted more than 350 drones targeting the capital and its outskirts from Thursday evening until Friday morning, adding that most had been destroyed before approaching Moscow.
