The State of Palestine on Saturday welcomed the New Delhi Declaration issued by the 18th BRICS summit, saying its content supports the rights of the Palestinian people, particularly its rejection of forced displacement, commitment to a two-state solution and support for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.

Palestinian statement praises BRICS summit positions

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that the declaration issued by the summit of leaders of member states, held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, included positions supporting the Palestinian cause, including a call to end the Israeli military presence in the Palestinian territories and rejection of attempts to displace Palestinians from their land, including Jerusalem.

The ministry praised the declaration’s support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and its mandate, as well as its affirmation of the need to protect holy sites and ensure access to them in Jerusalem, protect Palestinians and deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip without hindrance.

Call to implement international resolutions and protect Palestinians

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to assume its legal and political responsibilities and implement international legitimacy resolutions in a way that halts crimes and violations attributed to the Israeli forces, ends displacement, settlement and annexation, provides protection for the Palestinian people and enables them to exercise their rights, foremost among them self-determination. The summit’s final statement had declared its opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and called for respect for UN Security Council resolutions concerning Gaza.

It also expressed concern over the continued violence in the Palestinian territories despite the ceasefire reached in October 2025, and called for the utmost restraint in the ongoing war in the Middle East.
