Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s readiness to help advance efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis during bilateral talks on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Delhi, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Sunday.
Kremlin discusses resuming Ukraine talks
Peskov said Modi and Xi raised detailed questions about a settlement in Ukraine during the talks and offered their good offices to help find a solution. He added that Putin welcomed their readiness to help and gave a detailed account of developments. Separately, the Kremlin said it did not rule out resuming trilateral talks on Ukraine next October, referring to possible discussions involving Moscow, Kyiv and Washington.
He said there was no agreed package so far and that each side had its own view of what could be achieved through the talks. The moves come as Russia and Ukraine have intensified long-range air strikes in recent months, while the front lines have remained largely static.
Kyiv targeted Russian oil infrastructure and warehouses belonging to e-commerce companies in an effort to increase the costs borne by Moscow as the war continues.
