The Ukrainian Navy announced that it had destroyed a Russian unmanned boat in the Black Sea using a Ukrainian unmanned boat, in a confrontation Kyiv described as the first direct naval battle in history between two unmanned boats. The Navy said the operation was conducted in cooperation with the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defence Ministry, adding that intelligence units had detected the Russian target before attacking it.

It added that a Ukrainian Sargan 3000 boat, equipped with a 12.7-millimetre Protector weapons system, fired on and destroyed the Russian boat. The Navy released video footage it said documented the operation.

Ukraine’s presidency announced in April 2026 that the Sargan 3000 system had passed testing and entered service with the Navy, describing it as a versatile, highly manoeuvrable platform that could be used to carry out offensive missions.
