Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council member Othman Mujali inspected on Monday the battlefronts of the Fifth Military Region in Hajjah province, as well as naval formation forces, the coast guard and several islands off the coastal district of Midi in northwestern Yemen.
Inspecting equipment and developing the military region’s capabilities
Mujali praised what he described as the fighting spirit and determination of personnel in the Fifth Military Region, noting their role in driving Houthi forces out of the districts of Midi and Hiran and other areas of Hajjah. During the visit, he reviewed equipment used to manufacture ammunition and maintain weapons and military vehicles, as well as efforts to develop the unmanned aviation unit and advanced surveillance system.
He also followed the work of the Saudi Project Masam and engineering teams clearing mines, saying their efforts help protect citizens, farmers and shepherds from mines that he accused the Houthis of planting. The Presidential Leadership Council member held a meeting with the commander of the Fifth Military Region, brigade commanders, and a number of officers, noncommissioned officers and soldiers.
During the meeting, he said the battle to restore state institutions was continuing, stressing the importance of maintaining morale and raising the level of preparedness. Mujali said Saudi Arabia’s support for Yemen was based on the neighboring countries’ ties and historical links and supported development and the economy. In contrast, he accused Iran of providing support to the Houthis based on smuggling and destruction and aimed at undermining Yemen’s unity and social fabric.
Mujali called on Yemen’s tribes to protect their children from recruitment and being drawn into battles, warning against exploiting young people and turning them into fuel for the war.
