The Sudanese army made new gains on Saturday in the Kurmuk area of Blue Nile state, amid continued clashes with the Rapid Support Forces in Kurmuk and Qaisan. The developments followed the army’s announcement on Thursday that it had intercepted drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces toward the capital, Khartoum.

A medical source at Al-Nau Hospital said that one of the drones fell on a house in Omdurman, injuring 8 people. A military source said the army’s air defenses responded to drones that attempted to target areas north of Omdurman, confirming that they were shot down and prevented from reaching their targets. The army has controlled Khartoum since expelling the Rapid Support Forces in March 2025 during a large-scale military operation.

Drone attacks hamper the return of life to Khartoum

The war in Sudan began in April 2023, leaving tens of thousands dead and millions displaced and uprooted inside and outside the country, while famine has spread across several areas.
