The number of people recently displaced in Yemen has risen to 93,864 as a result of the ongoing conflict and its escalation since the beginning of September, according to a statement issued by the International Organization for Migration on Monday, amid expanding displacement in several governorates. Taiz governorate recorded large numbers of displaced people, including 18,840 in Jabal Habashi district and 9,966 in neighboring Al Ma'afer district.

The organization called on donors to provide urgent support to meet the needs of recently displaced families, particularly shelter, water and sanitation services. The International Organization for Migration announced on Friday that it was temporarily suspending all field movements and operations in Yemen because of the deteriorating security situation as fighting escalated in the country's southwest.

The United Nations agency warned that the number of displaced people could rise as fighting continues between government forces and the Iran-backed Houthi group.
