Authenticity and Modernity Party leads Morocco elections with 97 seats

Provisional results from Morocco’s legislative elections showed the Authenticity and Modernity Party in the lead, followed by the National Rally of Independents and the Istiqlal Party, while the Justice and Development Party won 54 seats. The Authenticity and Modernity Party led Morocco’s legislative elections with 97 seats, according to provisional results announced by Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit in the early hours of Thursday 24 September, following Wednesday’s vote to elect the 395 members of the House of Representatives.

Distribution of seats among the competing parties

National turnout stood at 38.02 per cent, down from 50.1 per cent in the 2021 elections.

The results pave the way for talks on forming a majority, which requires at least 198 seats, while the next government will oversee final preparations to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
