Thousands of pro-Palestinian supporters took part on Saturday 26 September 2026 in a march in the British city of Liverpool, calling for an end to the arms trade with Israel and the imposition of sanctions on it, on the eve of the governing Labour Party’s annual conference in the city.
Liverpool march heads towards Labour Party conference
Participants gathered at St George’s Plateau in central Liverpool before setting off towards the conference venue, carrying Palestinian flags and placards condemning the war in Gaza and calling on the British government to halt arms exports to Israel. Protesters called on the Labour government to take action to stop what they described as genocide and displacement in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for Britain to comply with international law and the rulings of the International Court of Justice.
Representatives of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Stop the War Coalition said the action aimed to convey protesters’ demands directly to the Labour leadership and pressure the government during its annual conference, criticising continued British support for Israel.
The march organisers called for a comprehensive ban on the arms trade with Israel and for sanctions against it, as well as an end to any British support linked to military operations in Gaza. Alongside the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Stop the War Coalition, organisations including Friends of Al-Aqsa, the Muslim Association of Britain, the Palestinian Forum in Britain and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament backed the call for the action.
The march took place one day before the start of the Labour Party’s annual conference, scheduled to be held in Liverpool from Sunday 27 September to Wednesday 30 September 2026, putting the protesters’ demands before the party’s members and leadership as delegates arrived in the city.
