Applications open today for 25,000 rental and rent-to-own homes

Applications open today, Sunday, September 20, for 25,000 homes in Egypt’s governorates and new cities under rental and rent-to-own schemes. Applications open today for 25,000 rental and rent-to-own homes

Applications opened today, Sunday, September 20, 2026, for 25,000 homes in the governorates and new cities under rental and rent-to-own schemes. Applications will remain open until Wednesday, October 28.

The offering includes homes provided by the New Urban Communities Authority under a rent-to-own scheme, as well as units offered by the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund for low-income citizens under a rental scheme, as part of the presidential “Housing for All Egyptians 9” initiative.

10,000 units offered by the New Urban Communities Authority

The New Urban Communities Authority’s offering includes 10,000 units, comprising around 5000 completed units ready for delivery and another 5000 units scheduled to be built over 3 years under a rent-to-own scheme, with a range of floor areas. Applications are submitted through the Masaken portal in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the offering booklet, with applicants required to create an account on the Egypt Digital platform.

Randa El-Menshawy, minister of housing, utilities and urban communities, said the offering follows President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to expand the availability of rental housing for citizens, with the aim of making it easier for young people to obtain housing.

She added that the rental scheme is one of the ministry’s areas of work to develop the rental housing system and provide a range of housing solutions for different segments of the population, in line with their financial capabilities and social needs, alongside traditional ownership schemes.

Distribution of units and projects

The offered units are distributed across around 26 new cities: New Cairo, 15 May, Badr, El-Shorouk, New Obour, Obour, New 6 October, New Borg El Arab, New Alamein, New Damietta, Sadat, 10th of Ramadan, New Salhia, New Mansoura, New Rashid, New Fayoum, New El-Fashn, New Beni Suef, New Minya, New Mallawi, New Nasser, New Assiut, New Sohag, New Qena, New Tiba and New Aswan.

The projects on offer include Distinguished Housing, Future Housing, middle-income housing, youth housing, Rawdat El-Obour, Valley Towers East, Sakan Misr, Dar Misr, Janna, developed housing, low-cost housing, economic housing and national housing. Unit sizes range from 57 sq m to 161 sq m.

New units over 3 years

The units scheduled to be built by the authority are distributed across 8 new cities: New 6 October, New Obour, New Borg El Arab, New Alamein, Hadayek 10th, Sadat, New Minya and New Sohag. The units are part of the Distinguished Housing and Sakan Misr projects, with floor areas ranging from 90 sq m to 126 sq m.

A total of 5% of the offered units has been reserved for people with disabilities who meet the booking requirements, in accordance with the rules set out in the offering booklet. The general allocation will be conducted through a public lottery among applicants who meet the requirements.
