The Egyptian Exchange and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange signed a strategic memorandum of understanding on September 29, 2026, during the annual conference of the Arab Federation of Exchanges in Abu Dhabi, aiming to establish a structured framework for cooperation on market development, expand cross-border trading opportunities and enhance investor access.
Exploring accession to the Tabadul platform
The memorandum enables the two sides to work on joint initiatives to develop market infrastructure, while also exploring the Egyptian Exchange’s potential accession to Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange’s Tabadul platform, which uses a reciprocal market-access model to facilitate cross-border trading.
Omar Radwan, chairman of the Egyptian Exchange, said the memorandum paves the way for facilitating intermarket trading, developing infrastructure and exploring opportunities for joint cooperation in support of economic growth in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
A framework for cooperation between the two exchanges
The memorandum provides a framework for exploring joint initiatives and expanding communication channels between the two exchanges. It does not in itself represent the launch of a direct trading link, as that would depend on the completion of the necessary regulatory, technical and operational arrangements between the parties concerned.
According to data released alongside the agreement, the Egyptian Exchange has 277 listed companies, and its total market capitalization stood at 77 billion US dollars in August 2026.
